My name is Sydney Mook and I am currently the higher education reporter and community editor at the Grand Forks Herald. I report on the University of North Dakota and other regional universities. Since April 2019 I have been covering the search for new president of UND. I regularly juggle reporting daily and enterprise education stories, but I have experience covering breaking news, court cases or health features.
I graduated from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota in December 2015. I majored in Media and Journalism, as well as Political Science. I was highly involved with student media and worked with the Volante, the campus newspaper and Coyote News, a weekly live news show.
During the summer of 2015 I interned with Army ROTC, Cadet Summer Training in Fort Knox, Kentucky as a video intern. As a video intern I filmed cadets as they trained to become Army officers. I then edited the footage and it was used for various purposes both online and as a part of family day celebrations for the cadets.
I have interned with South Dakota Public Broadcasting in Vermillion. There I did various activities, including creating graphics, setting up and running cameras, as well as producing my own short Dakota Life segments.
